Couple of decades back Range Rovers and Land Cruisers were associated with two lines of profession; Drug dealers/Arm dealers and International Diplomats. Their special detailing for luxury and customized safety made both the brands a must buy if you were in any of these professions.
Fast forward today, the brits at Range Rover have bolstered their protection giving vehicle Range Rover Autobiography into a custom tank called the Range Rover Sentinel. The 2019 Range Rover Sentinel designed by special operations division is Land Rover’s first complete 360 armored vehicle from start to finish.
The Sentinel gets an upgraded chassis, suspension and brakes combo to carry the extra armor and yet match the Autobiography’s standard all-terrain response system.
Engine duties on this behemoth are carried out by the new 5.0 litre V8 petrol engine which makes 375bhp and can propel this tank from standstill to 100 km/hr in 10 secs.
Now the good folks at Range Rover maintain that the Sentinel has been tested in the most vigorous conditions and can withstand any modern attacks such as machine gun rounds, grenade blasts to its underbelly and even impact of IEDs (improvised explosive devices). The safety protection shell which the Sentinel holds comes with its certified full ballistic and blast certificate for those who are looking for further assurances.
Reflecting on the Sentinel’s protection capabilities is Mr. Michael Van Der Sande, MD, Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations, “The Range Rover Sentinel delivers the exceptional protection and security required by our VIP clients without compromising the superior refinement of the latest Range Rover. The addition of the more powerful 5.0 litre Supercharged V8 engine and a redesigned interior ensures a heightened level of performance and occupant safety."
The Range Rover Sentinel heavily borrows its other dynamics from The Range Rover Autobiography, making it an effortless off-roader and all terrain vehicle. It further has special safety features such as the drive- in feature where vehicle can be driven up to 50 km at speeds up to 80kmph in case of flat tires. Siren, emergency response packs are standard kits in the car.
Step in and the Range Rover Sentinel is like the Autobiography. The 2019 Range Rover Sentinel will be featured at the Home Office Security and Policing show on March 5, 2019.
With both BMW and Mercedes having their flagships, 7 Series Security Vehicle and S- Guard respectively in India, we would to see LandRover goes ahead and launch the Sentinel in India.
