With X4 tasting fair bit of success, it was a no brainier, that BMW would update their flagship coupe SAV, the X6. And here it is, BMW just announced their updated X6 and we cover it for you.
To start of with, the third generation X6 employs a clean, exclusive design language which further accentuates a commanding appearance. The new BMW X6 has grown by 26 mm in the exterior length over the outgoing model and by 15 mm in width. In the bargain though, it now stands 6 mm lover and has an overall wheelbase increased by 42 mm. This directly translates into more space on the interiors, for the passengers as well as their luggage.
Off late, the BMW designers have taken peculiar liking for larger than life Kidney Grille, and that liking continues here too. However, for the first time, the X6 is available with an illuminated BMW kidney Grille, which in our opinion, well adds lot of bling to the SAV. While, the Adaptive LED Headlights are standard, customers can opt for BMW Laser-light, which further enhances the visibility and extends it to almost 500 meters.
On the interiors, the fit and finish levels are as expected out of any BMW, impeccable. The BMW X6 comes as standard with Vernasca leather upholstery, The interiors offer high level of variability with 40:20:40 split, a boot which can hold almost 1530 litres of luggage and the equipment list features massage seats, four zone climate control, thermoelectric cup holders, panoramic sunroof, Bowers & Wilkins 3D Surround Sound hi fidelity audio setup and an full LED virtual cockpit display.
At start BMW would be offering 2 petrols and 2 Diesel engine options, and the M Variant would be available from launch. The range topping M variant in petrol would be the M50i pumping out whopping 530hp and the M variant in diesel would be the M50D pumping out moderate 400hp. There would be the 40i and 30d variants also on offer from the launch.
All the variants would get the ZF developed eight speed Steptronic transmission, to put the power down seamlessly. The key highlight for the new BMW X6 would be the BMW’s in-house developed Intelligent Personal Assistant. A digital character would come to life on command by saying Hey BMW, which would be able to respond to most of the situations that you throw at it.
To be produced in the US at BMW Group Plant Spartanburg, the market launch for the new BMW X6 will happen in November 2019. For now, BMW is focusing on getting the all new 3 Series to India, during the upcoming festivities. We are hoping that BMW gets this X6 in India by mid 2020 if not later.
