Skoda Scala to bethe first car to be based on the MQB AO platform: Heres what you need to know
The rear tailgate is semi frame-less glass design, something similar first seen in Honda Brio in India

We aren't fans of the floating centre screen, though this is becoming a rage globally now, but this one, looks well fit and well proportioned

Though Skoda has been tight-lipped about this one, but sources in the industry claim that it could be late 2019 to early 2020 in India, as per their Vision 2020 plan. Honestly, Skoda should not consider bringing this car to India. Our fascination for bigger cars or definitions of bigger cars are, cars with boot. Hence the birth of sub 4 meter sedans.
Everyone from early 2000’s have tried to crack this by getting bigger and better hatchbacks, point in case from Chevrolet SRV, to the most recent VW GTi. But everyone failed miserably. In fact, interestingly Fiat was considering getting the Bravo to India, but they dropped that plan midway.
Dimensions wise, this car is as broader, wider and lengthier as the current generation Honda City. That effectively means, the taxes are going to be higher. Putting powerful engines, anything upwards of 1.5 litre, again attracts higher duties. Means, this car, if launched in India, cannot sit at 9 to 10 lacs ex-showroom. Therefore hypothetically it would be anywhere between 14 to 15 lacs ex-showroom to manage the costs and earn some revenue. At this price point, the sethji buying the car is definitely going to ask the question to the SA- “Dikki nahi hain?
